Bees Still on the Move in Texas

You may think you are noticing more bees lately,  but actually this year they are taking much longer to migrate than normal. Since they are hanging around longer you will notice them attracked to pool areas, dripping faucets, trash cans and flowers. Most of the bees you may have noticed are buzzing about are actually honey bees.  These bees are usually non – agressive in nature unless you insist on aggrevating them – then they feel threatened and they will attack.

If you do notice a swarm of bees, make sure to follow the following rules:

  • Do not discturb the colony or swarm
  • Call a beekeeper or pest professional to remove them
  • If they are landing in a tree with no hive visable, most likely they are just moving around. Wait a day or so (while avoiding the area) to see if they will move on their own.
